We live in a world of fake outrage. Everything is dramatic nothing can ever just be simple and over with it has to be blown out of proportion until eventually you can't even follow the logic of what people are talking about anymore. To me school prayer is one of those topics. I always see people commenting on how the demise of our country started when we took God out of school.
This whole argument has no merit to it. To believe that God has been taken out of school you would have to believe A) that God isn't everywhere and B) that you can't talk to God at anytime. These are two things that almost any Christian you would ask would say are false. So let's say you are someone hell bent on having your kid pray at school. Why not just tell them to do it at anytime during the day they can say a prayer in their head, say one before they eat their lunch or whenever the mood hits they as long as they aren't disturbing others.
Why does it have to be a big show? Is your faith so little that you believe if your children focus on learning for 8 hours a day and don't take the time to pray they will forever be damned? Nope you don't believe that either you believe Jesus saved you all and God forgives you so no logic there either.
Why not pray with your kid right before school and then as soon as they get home? Why interrupt school to pray? You want small governments but you want the already failing public schools to set aside time each day for your religious beliefs. I have to assume it's a power play. You want to feel superior.
Well here is a news flash your not....you live in a land of freedom of religion...it's the founding principle for crying out loud. So you know what the means right? It means when we give you your 15 minutes of prayer time we will also give 15 minutes to the Jews, 15 minutes to the Muslims, 15 minutes to the Buddhist and 15 minutes to whatever other people come around claiming to be a religion.
Our schools are overburdened and under performing as it is. Distractions from education are the last thing we need in this country. So do us all a favor get over your fake outrage and pray with your kids when you want to....and let them do it when they want to at school as long as they are not disturbing others. It's that simple. Drama averted.
